Hemidactylus turcicus
As indicated by its name, this gecko is native to the Mediterranean area.
It is active at night foraging for insects.
Most Geckos are small, usually nocturnal lizards of the family Gekkonidae, which contains about 80 genera and about 700 species. These reptiles usually have a soft skin, a short, stout body, large head, and limbs often equipped with suction-padded digits.

Mediterranean Geckos are common in human habitations. They eat small insects, and are incapable of causing harm to human beings or pets.
Geckos are beneficial and absolutely harmless.

Control:
Using appropriate exterior lighting, such as sodium vapor, which is less attractive to insects will substantially reduce interior invasion.
